Editorial Standards
Kala is a standard for trust in fishing. A site that asks you to trust verified data has to hold its own writing to the same bar. This page is the standard our content is held to — what we publish, how it gets reviewed, and what we will never do.
The honesty rule
Our single most important content rule: we never fabricate numbers. Kala shows real verified data, or it shows an honest blank. Where a product detail — a price, a rate, a spec — is not yet pinned down, we say so plainly instead of inventing a specific. You will see this on the definition pages, which deliberately state “pricing is set in the app and we don’t restate numbers here that aren’t fixed” rather than making one up.
AI assistance & human review
We use AI tools to help draft and edit some content. Every published page is reviewed by a human — Gian, Founder — before it goes live, and a person is accountable for it. AI is a writing aid here, not the author of record and not a source of facts. No factual claim, number, or product detail is published on the strength of an AI generation alone.
Source policy
- Claims about how Kala and the verification standards work are grounded in the actual product design and the Kala brand canon.
- When we describe a third party (for example, comparing the standard to an external record body), we describe it at the level of its widely understood role and do not characterize its internal process beyond what is commonly known.
- Forward-looking statements — what we’re building — are framed as intent, not as shipped fact, because features and timing can change before launch.
Correction policy
If we get something wrong, we want to fix it. Email hi@kala.fish with what’s inaccurate and we will correct the page. Material corrections are made promptly; we would rather be corrected than be wrong on the record. The founder’s name and a real contact address are on the About page precisely so corrections have somewhere to land.
What we do NOT do
- We do not invent prices, rates, specs, or statistics that aren’t pinned down.
- We do not present a fabricated figure as if it were verified data.
- We do not publish AI-generated facts without human review and a named, accountable reviewer.
- We do not dress up forward-looking plans as shipped features.
- We do not misrepresent third parties or claim endorsements we don’t have.
- We do not quietly change a substantive claim without correcting the record when it mattered.
Review checklist
Before a content page ships, a human confirms:
- Every number on the page is real, sourced, or honestly omitted.
- Nothing forward-looking is phrased as if it already exists in the product.
- Any third party mentioned is described only as commonly understood.
- Plain-English language a fisherman can read without a glossary.
- A reviewer is accountable for the page.
